Curtain Call Academy — Session 4 is HERE!

The curtain is about to rise, and we are THRILLED to announce auditions for our next production: A CHRISTMAS CAROL!

Are you a student who is eager, excited, creative, and loves the stage? Then we want YOU! Whether you’ve been performing for years or this is your very first audition, there is a place for you at Curtain Call Academy.

Open to students 5th–12th grade

We’re looking for students interested in TECH, backstage, sets, lights, sound, costumes, and all the behind-the-scenes magic that brings a production to life.

So gather your courage, bring your enthusiasm, and come ready to have some FUN! We can’t wait to see what you bring to the stage—and to our Curtain Call family.

About the Show

Wolfgang, an egocentric, “greatest actor in the world,” is set to perform his grandiose one-man extravaganza when he is interrupted by a pragmatic delivery person carrying an urgent package. What starts as a clash of personalities turns into a madcap, fast-paced duet as the two team up to act out the classic fairy tale together. Packed with slapstick comedy, witty banter, fourth-wall breaks, and constant character swaps, this modern, high-energy adaptation reimagines Red Riding Hood into a clever, courageous, and hilarious adventure for audiences of all ages!

Audition Dates & Times

Wednesday, December 18th: 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Thursday, December 19th: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Role Breakdown

While written for a flexible or two-person core dynamic, actors will play multiple roles throughout the show:

Wolfgang (Lead / Featured): A dramatic, theatrical actor with big physical comedy energy. Plays Wolfgang, the Wolf, the Woodcutter, and Grandma.
Delivery Person / Red (Lead / Featured): A sharp, practical, quick-thinking individual who stumbles into the performance. Plays Delivery Person, Red Riding Hood, Mother, and Grandma.
Ensemble / Character Swaps: Flexible casting possibilities for additional roles, physical theater bits, and stage magic depending on production size.

Experience Life On Stage at Winneshiek!

Anyone who ever wanted to act, from those with no experience to the most seasoned actor, is welcome on our stage. Part of what makes Winneshiek successful is the diversity of our participants. Beginning with auditions and ending with the final curtain call, the production team and staff are there to help. Many novices worry about learning all the lines or succumbing to stage fright. Don’t let that stop you! During the weeks of rehearsals, your role and character will become second nature!

What type of auditions do you hold?

Open auditions, welcoming all levels of experience.

How often are auditions held?

Auditions are typically held 8-10 weeks before the opening night of each production. Dates are posted on our website and social media when our season is announced.

Do I need to prepare anything?

Each show is different.
Plays generally require cold readings, and script segments are available for those who wish to familiarize themselves with the show in advance.

What should I wear?
